Every day, tonnes of perfectly edible produce is being thrown away at the importer, wholesaler, and retailer levels. These could be due to oversupply, or discards due to cosmetic reasons.
Veggie Rescue is a programme where we approach vegetable and fruit suppliers and ask them to give us their unsellable produce. We collect these and load our truck to deliver the food to the people who can best use them — soup kitchens and charitable organisations that serve the needy.
Our flagship programme is conducted at Pasir Panjang Wholesale Centre on most Thu mornings, and the last Sat of the month. Our sister programme of a smaller scale is conducted at Little India on every Mon, Wed, Fri mornings.
